MSCA Staff Exchanges. NOMADIC. Nomad Movements and Digital Impacts in Cities

MSCA Staff Exchanges

Project led by National University of Distance Education (UNED) and in process of signing  the grant agreement.

NOMADIC is a comprehensive and multidisciplinary network of international experts, fostering cross-sector collaboration to delve into the complexities and ramifications of nomadic movements and digital phenomena in urban environments. This initiative aims to bridge diverse fields such as urban planning, sociology, anthropology, geography, architecture, technology, policy-making, social art, and specialists in social intervention and participatory-action strategies. The focus of this research is to explore and understand the multifaceted impacts of digitalization, platformization, and the emergence of technological nomadic workers on urban life. Our key inquiry revolves around the transformative effects of online platforms on consumption habits, lifestyle choices, leisure activities, and work culture in the urban context. This exploration seeks to answer critical questions, such as: How are online platforms reshaping and influencing urban living, consumption patterns, and work culture?; What role do these platforms, along with their digital and gig workers, play in the ongoing digital transformation of urban life?: How can society adapt and evolve to ensure improved community liveability and social inclusion, in the face of uneven urban development driven by platform capitalism?. Through this project, we aim not only to generate a comprehensive understanding of these dynamics but also to propose actionable strategies that promote sustainable urban development, community well-being, and inclusive growth in the digital age.

NOMADIC involves 4 european and 3 iberoamerican partners from 6 countries, guaranteeing a global approach in a multi-sectoral context (universities, research centres, and SMEs).
